Yesterday the city of Düsseldorf in Germany saw a unique event: "The Great Zombie Walk". People dressed up as zombies and walked through the Altstadt ("Old Town" - Düsseldorfs party, pub and disco quarter at the river Rhine where on a sunny saturday many people from all over Northrhine Westphalia come to see and be seen) and along the Königsallee ("Kings Avenue" - Northrhine Westphalias no. 1 shopping mile for the rich where all the famous designers have their stores). I think they wanted to walk further to the parliament of Northrhine Westphalia but I left the group before. I found it was a beautiful satire of mainstream event culture, and it seemed very surreal. I felt really stupid because I was one of maybe three persons who had been to lazy to dress up. I found many of the costumes really impressive. It was a damn bloody gathering but utterly peaceful - all blood seen was film blood. And all the punks, headbangers and goths that had gathered were unified in absolute silliness and fun.
